Not only do they mark the edges or corners of the field, soccer corner flags are a reference point for players whether they are close to the flags or not. The flags can be a target for passing to other team members. Additionally, each corner flag should be sturdy to withstand wind, rain, snow, and other elements. However, the corner flags should be flexible to bend in case players and/or referees happen to run into them.
